Pressed between the Corbières and Albères, Roussillon is a plain of collapse, former Gulf filled by the alluvium of rivers in the Pyrenees.
The countries of the "langue d'oc" are primarily an ethnic and historic ensemble covering  Mediterranean countries, Aquitaine Basin and Massif Central.
Behind the smooth curve that emerges from the Pyrenees to the Rhone, the shoreline of Languedoc, barrier beaches isolate a string of inland lagoons (ponds of Leucate, Sigean, Thau), sometimes completely separated from the sea, sometimes communicating with her through natural channels, the "graux".
In Languedoc the two basilicas of Conques and Saint Sernin, situated on one of the roads to Santiago de Compostela , belong to a group of building designed for large crowds of pilgrims.


The capital of the vineyards of Languedoc, Béziers was already a town in Roman times. In the 3rd century, the city is surrounded by ramparts. Beziers kept up until today the occupied site before the Roman period, on a plateau overlooking the left bank of the Orb. This river with its mill, class IV, is one of our best memories of kayaking on white water.

Carcassone, Old Gallic oppidum, and then Roman Medieval fortress is now a tourist center, due to its preserved city, classified UNESCO World Heritage. The wonderful ramparts show the power reached by the military architecture of this period in the 11th century.
