The North of France is the first french area when you arrive in France from
England by the chunnel or ferries.
It's also the land border with Belgium. Most of people choose to miss out this
region and head straighly toward Paris. But if you want give time to
this region the first thing you must have in mind is that's area is
populated by the the most friendly people of France. This is a
commonly know by all french people.
Another difference with most of the french areas is you won't find wineyards. In North you drink beer !
One of the favorite being "Bière de garde".
For your visits the Opal Coast which runs between Calais and Boulogne sur Mer is a must. Lille is a wonderful and quiet city, full of monuments or places like "la Vieille bourse" or "Palais Rihour".
